Notifications and Nemi on Telegram

Telegram is a free messaging app. By connecting it to Puntify you receive your shop's notifications (new bookings, orders, reviews) straight on your phone and you can chat with Nemi, your AI assistant, to ask her for your location's data. The connection uses Telegram "topics": they're like separate rooms inside the same group, so each of your locations has its own dedicated space. You'll find the page under "Account → Telegram", at /merchantAccount/telegram.

How to connect Telegram (one time only)

The procedure is the same for iOS, Android and Desktop. Follow it in order:

1. Create a new Telegram group with a clear name (e.g. "Puntify – My locations") and add at least any one member: Telegram only turns the group into a "supergroup" afterwards, which is required for topics.
2. Enable Topics: tap the group name at the top → Edit (pencil icon) → Topics → turn it on.
3. Add the bot as an administrator: in the group open Administrators → Add administrator, search for and select @PuntifyNemiBot. On the permissions screen tick "Manage Topics": it's off by default even for admins and it's the step that trips everyone up. Also leave "Post messages" and "Delete messages" on and save.
4. Generate the code: go back to Puntify and tap "Connect Telegram". You get a code like ABCD-1234, valid until a stated time.
5. Post the command in the group: /start ABCD-1234. The bot automatically creates a topic for each of your locations.
6. Go back to Puntify and tap "Done, verify". If everything is in order you'll see "Connection successful" and the status becomes "Connected to \"{group name}\"".

After connecting

1. Every notification for a location arrives in its dedicated topic.
2. To chat with Nemi about a specific location, write inside that location's topic: she'll reply with that shop's data.
3. If you add new locations in the future, press "Sync": the missing topics will be created (see the "Locations without a topic" section).

If something doesn't work

If syncing says "0 topics created" and the logs show "not enough rights to create a topic", it means the bot's "Manage Topics" permission is off: go back to step 3, turn it on, then press "Sync" again. To stop everything use "Disconnect": the warning "Disconnect Telegram? The topics will stay in the group but will no longer receive notifications." will appear.

Common questions

Do I have to pay for Telegram? No, Telegram is free. Why do I need a group and not a single chat? Because topics (the separate rooms for each location) only exist in groups with topics enabled. Has the code expired? You generate a new one by tapping "Connect Telegram" again: it's temporary for security. Can I connect multiple locations? Yes: a single group holds all your locations, each in its own topic.
